Katherine & Max | Married

If happiness were a person, it would be Katherine! My dream bride, and the best human. Once I met her parents, I understood why she is such a gem of a person. She was raised by the happiest people on earth and it shows. We had the most fun on her wedding morning getting ready at her childhood home where the love was evident. I love when everyone is laid back, goes with the flow, and is excited about the process & fully enjoying the wedding day.

Enjoy a peek into the magic, and reach out to secure your easy breezy wedding day! I’ll bring the glam, fun, and good music, you just relax and enjoy the happy energy of the best day of your life. xoxo

Sam & David | Married

I immediately loved Sam and her vision for her La Jolla, California wedding! She, and her group, were so much fun on the wedding day! So many laughs, the best playlist, and her besties making the day perfect.

She’s a Reiki healer, an empath, and a generally amazing person who is so in tune with herself and others. She knew the soft glam vibe was her goal, and all of the pieces fell into place for her wedding day!

Check out all of the beautiful magic! I cannot get over this stunning wedding! xo, Amanda

Alyssa & David | Married

Planning a wedding can sometimes have unexpected twists and turns. For Alyssa and David, my couple from Denver, Colorado, their dream destination wedding took a surprising detour that led them to a magical location they hadn't initially planned on.

Alyssa & David did everything right, securing their favorite vendors 2 years in advance to make sure they had the wedding of their dreams, and reserving their favorite venue in Big Sur well in advance. Despite meticulous planning, Mother Nature had other plans. Just months before their wedding, heavy rains in California washed away the road to their original venue in Big Sur. This was a significant setback and left them with only a week to pivot and find a new venue!

They called hundreds of locations, and the only available venue that could accommodate their new plans was much further away in the sleepy seaside town of Sea Ranch, California. Initially, this seemed like a challenge, but it turned out to be a blessing in disguise. Sea Ranch, known for its stunning coastline and tranquil atmosphere, offered a less commercialized and more intimate setting than Big Sur.

Sea Ranch provided the perfect backdrop for Alyssa and David's wedding. The serene, secluded environment created the most dreamy and ethereal vibe. Without the crowds of more popular destinations, their wedding was a truly an intimate affair, surrounded by the raw beauty of nature, and their closest family and friends.

Alyssa and David's wedding day was everything they had hoped for and more. Their story is a testament to the power of resilience and the beauty of embracing change. By staying positive and flexible, they turned a potentially disappointing situation into a magical experience that exceeded their wildest dreams. They also had vendors that were rooting for them and wanted their day to be as perfect as possible.

Planning a wedding can be stressful, but sometimes the unexpected can lead to the most memorable and enchanting experiences. For all the couples out there planning their big day, remember to stay open to new possibilities and keep a positive attitude—you never know where it might lead you! Wishing the very best for Alyssa, David, and their sweet baby girl :) xoxo, Amanda

Hannah & Grant | Married

2023 has brought some of the most magical brides, and wedding parties into my life. Hannah was a complete dream bride from the moment we met, and she booked me very early into the process which is always recommended, and we had so much fun working together.

This is one of my favorite weddings this year. I love the entire style, vibe, and fashion forward moments. This wedding should be in a magazine, and this bride should write a book on how to prepare for your wedding. Hannah understood the assignment, and took the advice to heart on skin prep, getting facials, dermaplaning, and making sure she was ready for her day.

It’s so crucial to ask your vendors for their recommendations on how to prepare since this is what we do every single day, and we love sharing with you! it also makes your day go so much more smoothly if you know what to expect, and what’s expected of you. Keeping it streamlined and easy going with no surprises is the way to go!

These photos made my jaw drop, and it was so hard to narrow them down. Enjoy the beauty, and reach out with any wedding questions or to book your day.

xoxo Amanda

Bachelorette Becca x Mermade Hair | Taylor Swift Concert

Mermade hair contacted me for a fun collaboration, and reunion with Bachelorette/Bachelor In Paradise alumni, Becca Kufrin. I worked with Becca for a magazine shoot a few years back with San Diego’s Pacific magazine. It was so nice to catch-up and hear about her new chapter with Thomas, and their sweet baby boy on the way.

Mermade sent Becca to see the epic Taylor Swift concert in LA. She picked a Taylor-inspired hair style, and Mermade provided the fun hair crystals and tools for the day.

I also did Becca’s makeup for the concert, and we decided on some fun pink lips and shadow with a pop of champagne sparkles on her lids, and shimmer on her cheeks.

Check out some of our fun getting ready moments below :)

Casey & Blake | Married

I had so much fun getting to know Casey and her fun group on her wedding morning! Her style and venue were so timeless and the perfect San Diego vibe. Estancia is one of my all time favorite venues, because it’s laid back, yet elegant, and feels like some of my favorite places in the desert.

It’s so fun seeing the photos after the wedding and everyone when they are past the nerves of the wedding morning, and on to the celebration and pure love of gathering family and friends together. It’s truly one of the only times in our lives when we get to have all of our favorite people, from different stages of our life, all meeting and celebrating. It’s honestly magical!

Lauren & Dylan | Married

Wedding services typically book out a year, and sometimes longer which is nice, because it gives me a chance to know you before the big day.

Lauren booked me very early (which is recommended), and I had the pleasure of glamming her for several events before her big day. She booked me for engagements photos, a wedding trial, and rehearsal hair and makeup and we had fun doing a variety of looks, and it made her realize what she truly wanted for her wedding day. We also had the best time, and it made the wedding morning like catching up with a friend.

For the wedding day she chose a timeless, and fresh-faced look with a classic low bun. For her rehearsal, we had fun with a more playful and dramatic look that included a #sofiarichie inspired sleek bun.

Enjoy these stunning photos from her gorgeous wedding day!

Alyssa & David | Engaged

When Alyssa contacted me and asked if I would travel to Big Sur, California for her wedding, the answer was obviously, “heck yeah!” I was impressed that she was organizing everything from her home in Colorado, and having an incredible wedding adventure! Big Sur offers some of the most epic scenery and hiking so I knew that if a couple wanted to get married there, and travel so far to do it, they had to be my kind of people so I was definitely in :)

I’m so happy that we got to meet this year since their wedding isn’t until the Spring of 2024. She and David had another adventure when they flew into San Diego for their engagement session. I was in awe when I saw how beautiful the photos turned out.

More to come next year when these lovebirds have their biggest adventure yet in the most incredible destination! I can’t wait :)

Kathryn & Matt | Married

I love when couples go all in on their own vibe and stay true to themselves! Kathryn & Matt did not let anyone influence their big day and it was absolutely perfect and beautiful. I love being a part of the pure joy of celebrating love and it’s so refreshing to see a couple 100% present and enthusiastic about all of the details of the day and enjoying the process.

I was thrilled to see their incredible wedding published this week on one of my favorite wedding sites, Green Wedding Shoes. They recognized the unique and heartfelt vision of this special couple.

Wishing Kathryn & Matt many more years of vibrancy, fun and love!

Stephanie & Chris | Married

Stephanie & Chris celebrated their wedding day at one of my favorite La Jolla venues, Estancia, with the gorgeous lush grounds and the quaint feeling of having your own private oasis.

Stephanie came to me with hopes of having a gorgeous and intricate updo. The only catch was she had a very short bob and fine hair. I’m so glad she asked if it was possible, because hair extensions and products can be pretty magical. I had her get a full set of extensions at Hair Unlimited in Mission Valley. A favorite among San Diego stylists! I’m so happy that she was able to have the hair she was dreaming of and it all worked out :)

For makeup she chose a full coverage, natural glam look that was perfect for her. Her shadow colors were beautiful plum and champagne tones that showed off her gorgeous eye color.

I loved being a part of the fun wedding morning with her crew! There was so much love, and the joy was palpable. Congratulations, Stephanie & Chris! xo

Katie & Adam | Married

Katie is a great example of a classic and natural bride who didn’t want a lot of fuss. Her main request was a beautiful, contoured glow, and a clean makeup look. Natural or neutral looks are full coverage so that they look flawless in photos and take the same amount of time as a glam look. Sometimes natural looks can take more time since you want to make sure the application shows up in photos.

For her hair, she wanted to wear it down, with full beachy waves. To achieve this look, we added in a full set of extensions. Ask your stylist if you need extensions or if product is enough to get a voluminous look.

Courtney & Steve | Married

I adore Courtney, and loved spending time with her at our trial, and with her and her family and friends on her wedding morning at Rancho Bernardo Inn. We both share a love for fresh looks, and clean makeup. Her whole wedding vibe was so incredibly clean and elegant, and those bridesmaid dresses were perfection!!

I enhanced her beautiful features with warm tones from one of my favorite Ilia palettes, and used a blend of cream shadows with traditional, as well as several cream and powder blushes mixed in to create this effortless look (effortless looking, but still takes the full hour to create!). Rose gold airbrush from Temptu was also used as a gorgeous highlight that really popped with her look. Pro tip: Courtney made sure to get facials and take exceptional care of her skin before her wedding day. It makes all of the difference when your makeup goes on like butter from proper hydration and exfoliation.

I loved creating this loose and romantic low bun that is so timeless!

I’m excited to share some beautiful moments from her wedding day!

Branding | Dutch & Deckle

Something near and dear to my heart is doing styling for other small business’ and helping them promote themselves in the most beautiful, and authentic way possible.

I loved being a part of this shoot for a new stationary company, Dutch & Deckle, and working with branding experts, The Creative Clique.

Renting a studio space, and having styling experts work with you on-set for a branding, or re-branding is one of the most satisfying and intentional times for you, and your business. It gives you a chance to step back, and reflect on what you’d like to put forward for yourself and your client. Creating a space, and a look that represents you is so valuable; not just for amazing content, but for attracting who you would love to work with.

Happy New Year | 2021

I’m sure I’m not alone when I say it’s all been a blur! This is the second year that family photos have fallen through. I might give them another go in the new year, but this quick snap from Christmas in San Francisco on my phone is as good as it’s going to get this year, and I’m actually okay with that. It’s authentic and makes me really happy that we are all together & healthy, and got a chance to have another road trip and family adventure. The theme for 2022 is keeping on and keeping it real. This photo pretty much sums up the keeping it real part :)

I have my last wedding of 2021 tomorrow, and I’m so grateful that I’ve been able to work at full capacity for the last few months after not working for almost an entire year and a half. I cannot begin to express my level of gratitude to all of the wonderful people who have kept Thorne Artistry in mind for your weddings, and events. All of the referrals have been incredible and so appreciated! Past clients who have become friends, and continue to call on us for your beautiful life moments is humbling. The love and continued support has kept my company afloat after a tumultuous 2 years, and I cannot thank you enough. I’m so happy that we are still here, and I cannot wait to meet all of the upcoming brides and friends to come. Wishing you all good health, kindness and much love in the new year. Big hugs and thank you from my little family to yours! xo, Amanda

Palm Springs | Elopement

There has always been such a magical feel to the desert and the beautiful landscape. Living in San Diego we are so fortunate to be able to escape to the ocean, mountains, or desert whenever we want a little getaway. It’s no surprise that so many couples take the opportunity to escape to such a wondrous place like Palm Springs to celebrate their love.

I’m in love with this gorgeous Palm Springs, desert elopement, and so happy to finally share it with you!

Thorne Artistry loves to travel for destination weddings so please let us know if you are outside of San Diego, or California, and would like to have us style you! xoxo

Bachelorette | Published

I have to be honest and admit that I haven’t watched the Bachelor or the Bachelorette in several seasons. It’s not because I don’t love reality TV (quite the opposite!), it’s because I don’t watch live TV and forget to record it! I’m realizing that I really need to catch up since the universe keeps putting these Bachelor ladies in my life :)

Pacific magazine in San Diego was kind enough to call on me again for one of their amazing cover shoots and I got to spend the day with one of the most genuine and sweetest real life couples from The Bachelor and The Bachelorette, Becca Kufrin and Garrett Yrigoyen. We got to hang out at fun locations all over downtown San Diego on an unusually chilly, and rainy southern California day.

Becca was a trooper and we all wore our winter coats to shoot the February cover issue for Valentine’s Day, and the upcoming tour of Bachelor Live on Stage! Becca also stopped by my studio the week after the shoot for a one-on-one makeup and hair lesson so she could glam herself and prep for months on the road living on a bus. See the full issue and read the article here!

New Year | Adiós 2019

Another year gone in a blink of an eye. Now we’re headed into another decade! That is so mind-boggling to me. Just like you’re probably thinking back to everything that has happened in the last 10 years, I can’t help but look back and remember how this decade started. I was a newbie to San Diego, had a completely different profession as a radio DJ (I know, long story!), met my husband, had two babies, and started a new business, and the path that I was always meant to be on. Pretty epic and so much to take in. The biggest emotion that comes to mind is gratitude. I decided to first believe in myself, and then wonderful people like you believed in me too. I’m humbled you are here and I hope we connect in this New Year, or get together again if you’ve already become a part of my life. From my crazy family to yours, Merry Christmas, blessings in the New Year, and boundless joy, love and health for the next decade. I can’t wait to hear your story! xoxo, Amanda

Ann & Douglas | Married

Sometimes you just meet the nicest people and they make everything a party. Ann and her family were a dream, and lit up the entire room with their good attitudes and laughter. These are my favorite kinds of people, because they don’t miss the beauty in the big, and small moments. They honestly savor the day and truly enjoy each other and the time they have together. They remind me to not get caught up in the minutiae, but to fully embrace all of the happiness that life gives us.

This fun group flew in from Texas the week before their La Jolla wedding so I was able to spend lots of quality time glamming them all for the events that led up to the most beautiful wedding day.

Check out the pure exuberation below!
